The job title “food chemist” is protected by law. Education is regulated in the respective federal states by given examination rules, which all provide for four years of university studies, one year of practical training and three sections of examination. Following two years of basic studies in chemistry, main studies focus on:

    • Chemistry, analysis and technology of foodstuffs, drinking water,kolben AG JLC consumer goods, a.o.
    • Biochemistry
    • Nutritional science
    • Chemical toxicology
    • Microbiology and food hygiene
    • Ecological chemistry and environmental protection
    • Basics in legal regulations for foodstuffs and administrative law

During practical training students deepen their knowledge in a chemical investigations office and in other institutions and project their skills to practical tasks.
